The Fortune House

“The Fortune House”, built in 1914 and named after its original owner, Walter H. Fortune, boasts four private guest rooms, an elegant foyer, a spacious parlor, and a fully appointed conference room which could also serve as a private dining area for guests or for events.

Much of the original architecture has been preserved in this beautiful Victorian style home. It offers guests all the amenities of a first class hotel, inside theuniquely handcrafted framework reminiscent of a time past. The original fireplaces, native hardwood floorsand handmade solid wood doors all add to the nostalgic panache presented by The Fortune House.

Guests can enjoy a walk or bike ride on the famous Creeper Trail, canoe down Laurel Creek, or fish in some of the best trout fishing waters in Virginia, all within walking distance from the property. Across the street, is the renowned “Damascus Old Mill Inn & Restaurant” offering a first-class menu that pairs perfectly with our one-of-a-kind ‘High-End Bourbon Bar’ featuring Pappy Van Winkle and many more. Just outside on the decks of The Old Mill Inn, you will find not only breathtaking views but some of the best trout fishing waters in the entire state of Virginia.
