Competitive Trout Fishing:
Inaugural Trout Days event—a three-day trout fishing tournament set against the picturesque backdrop of the Appalachian Mountains.
Hosted by the Town of Damascus, Trout Days will take place along the scenic stretches of Laurel Creek and Beaverdam Creek within the town limits. This is a catch-and-release, single hook, artificial lures only tournament. The event is limited to 200 registered anglers, ensuring an intimate and competitive experience. Entry fee is $100. Participants will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes, including cash rewards of up to $1,000, gear, and guided trips, all awarded through a trout tag lottery system. A stocking is scheduled prior to the event and 200 of the stocked trout will be tagged. Awards will be determined by the trout tag lottery on Sunday after the tournament. Each trout tag collected equals one entry; the more tagged trout you catch, the more chances to win!
Conservation efforts in Damascus:
Beyond the thrill of fishing, Trout Days aims to foster community engagement and support local conservation efforts. Proceeds from the event will contribute to initiatives that preserve and enhance the natural beauty of Damascus and its waterways.
